Incubation Program

Participation in the incubator program is typically a 2-3 year program. Rental rates are designed to be on a par with commercial rates during the second year of the program. The first year is offered at a 10% discount, and the third year is 10% above the second year. The rate structure for a tenant is established for three years as the prevailing rate schedule at the time they join the incubator program, even if they move from one space to another, or take on additional space.

Admission to the incubator program is subject to the availability of space and approval by the Board of Directors.

Candidates fill out a detailed application, sign releases for credit and background checks and provide a business plan to acquaint BBC staff with the anticipated business. In most cases, the staff or members of the Board will interview the applicant.

Preference is given to companies who have the potential for creating permanent, good-paying jobs, and who market products or services outside the local region, thereby bringing new money into the area.

If an applicant doesn’t have a business plan developed, help is available from the Idaho Small Business Development Center (ISBDC) and from SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives. These organizations are also available for counseling throughout the incubation process.
